Premature WHITE hairs that turn back natural??...?

I'm 20 and have had small patches of white *not grey hair* for a few years. It seems it started when I was having stressful times, and the hair isn't the same texture as natural "greys." It's just like my natural hair, but bright white. Also, I noticed on some strands that the color came back to them at some point. It's also like my hair is three different colors; my natural dark brown underneath, a lighter brown forming on top, and strands of white huddled together.

I would think it was just premature greying if it were different circumstances. Anyone know what's going on or what can cause this? I'm extremely pale skinned as well, if that has anything to do with it, perhaps a color-producing problem?

It sounds to me like it's just the stress you were having that caused this. My hair does that all the time when I have a lot of stress going on.

I have extremely premature grey though, and it seems to get a lot worse when I stress.

Early greying of the hair is basically hereditary, and we can inherit it from one of our parents or grandparents. So if your father's hair started to turn grey in his thirties there is a good chance yours will too. Grey hair can also be influenced by stress. A person experiencing a prolonged period of stress and anxiety may notice, over a period of time, white hairs gradually appearing. Malnutrition, worry, shock, deep sorrow, tension and other similar conditions may also slow down the production of melanin resulting in grey hair. Sever illness too can stop or affect the production of melanin. However, scientists have not been fully able to explain the exact causes of this change in colour of the hair.
