Nappi-Headed...When did that become racist?

I was raised in a time and place (and I'm not old) where being "Nappy Headed" didn't relate to race. I think its funny how Hip-Hop has made old sayings racist and ugly. Nappy headed was a term used for un-attractive or dirty hair as a general and common term....had nothing to do with race...

"I can't count the times that I've told my kids they need a bath and called them nappy headed" I'll admit its a mean spirited mabe hurtful all-be-it common saying.

Hoe is today commonly used in jest - "I consider it vulger" calling someone a nappy headed hoe is ugly. But, have you ever heard the jokes that Jeff Foxworthy makes. Why do Blue collar caucasions laugh?

Mabe Sharpton, Jackson and other racist hippocrites should get a grip...

We should all get a grip! There are serious issues out there, a radio/television celebrities failed attempt at humor "IS NOT POLITICS" if a bad joke doesn't get a laugh it won't get used again!

Here it comes again, that little thing called political correctness. Bullsht political correctness is one of the biggest things that keep racial prejudices going in this country today. I agree with you 200%.

While I do agree that the words "nappy-headed" aren't racist, it has been used as a way to demonize blacks with "kinky/course" hair and also those without..and basically blacks in general. But I think it became a big deal when it was directed at a group of black women who don't exhibit that "nappy headed" persona that might have gotten people into an uproar and that it was said by a white man. It is no different from what they say in today's rap music. But I guess it's less of a problem for some because it's their own people saying it.

Hence why Foxworthy can call people "rednecks" all day long and some whites aren't offended.
