How does hair color actually change your complexion?

I have naturally black hair with pale skin. Recently, I dyed my hair about 2 shades lighter in a warmish, dark-brown color. I'm surprised by just how much this has warmed up my complexion...I actually look tan in any light! Does anybody know how such a subtle change in hair tone make such a dramatic difference in skin color?? Thanks....

Certain tones bring out certain colors. That's really all there is to it. Warm colors will bring out warmth in your complexion while cool, ashy colors while accent cool tones in your complexion.

I think it is simply the different colored light reflecting off of your hair.

Of course it doesn't actually change it, some colors just compliment a person's skin tone better than others. Just like different eye shadow colors make your eyes look brighter, bigger, smaller, wider-set, etc.

it doesnt affect your skin color but how it APPEARS to look. You still have the same complexion, it just looks less pale because it is not set next to as dark of a hair color. when looking at your face with the black hair, your skin will look lighter than it would to your lighter hair.
