I have thick wavy and curly hair, is there any way to make it softer?

I have always had long thick hair, and in the past I have taken the time to straiten it, but recently that has not been the case. It takes about 6 hours to straiten my hair. But anyway, in the last few months my hair has been gettnig more dry to the point where it is brittle now. I take vitimins constantly but nothing seems to be helping. Last night I did a mixture of baby oil, eggs, and honey and mixed that in my hair and let it sit 10 mins before washing, and my hair did turn out better, but it sitll is not at the level of softness I need it at. My hair is so dry I cannot do anything with it at all except pull it into a ponytail or a bun, but both of those are also hard because of the thickness.

If that mixture worked for you, you should keep doing it. Besides that, maybe you should do deep conditioning once a week & find a good moisutrizing shampoo and conditioner. I use the ones for curly hair, and I'm in the process of trying the Garnier Frutices Curl & Shine but I'm not sure how that is.

I know this doesn't say exactly what products to get, but there are some ideas. I'm sure other people will have products for you to try.
